The French program is based on the communicative approach, encompassing reading, writing, listening and speaking skills as well as French cultural information and appreciation. Students have the opportunity to participate in various field trips and the European Study Tour.

Junior classes are divided into regular and advanced streams. Those coming to Westgate from the French Immersion Program or a Français school will be placed in the advanced stream. Those students coming in from the French Communication and Culture Program will be placed in the regular stream.
