Heidi grew up being on the move. As a child she moved almost every 2-3 years between Canada, Germany, and the United States. The last move brought her to Winnipeg, where she graduated from Westgate in 2004. This was most definitely not going to be her last time at Westgate. After attending CMU for three years, majoring in Mathematics and living in the Netherlands for a year on a Mennonite work program, Heidi returned to Westgate to work as an Educational Assistant for a year. This sparked her interest in Education, so after studying more German at the U of M, Heidi graduated with an Education Degree from the U of W. Heidi’s initial teaching experience comes from teaching in the German Bilingual Program at Donwood Elementary, Princess Margaret School, and River East Collegiate. After working in the River East Transcona School Division, Heidi taught grade 6 at Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute, and is now happy to have returned and found a home at Westgate as a teacher. She is very excited to be teaching English, Math, and German. Heidi also chairs the Manitoba German Language Contest Committee, packs up her gear for Westgate Marsh and Mountain trips, and is excited to inspire students in their language acquisition. Heidi attends First Mennonite Church and spends summers enjoying camping, sometimes traveling, and getting together with friends.
